The Cheshire’s archives: a story shared project reimagines the Archives’ public face and facilities, creatively engaging and inspiring people across the county with their archival heritage, using digital innovation, two new centres and new learning and community engagement programmes.

New history centres in Chester and Crewe will provide much-needed homes for nationally and regionally important collections that are as rich and complex as the story of Cheshire. They will not only keep the collections safe for future generations: they will attract diverse audiences to enjoy high quality interpretation, activities, learning and research environments.

The project will extend this approach across the county to connect people with voices and stories that are relevant to them and their heritage. In doing so, our project will build an exciting and sustainable future for Cheshire's archives.

We welcome you along on our four year journey, there will be lots of opportunities for you to get on board, starting here - comments are open across the site - please do tell us what you think.

You can explore the plans in more detail on this page.
