Archives in Action - Listen up! Let’s Talk, History

The Let’s Talk, History series is a set of free trails created using historic audio recordings. Each series is planned to tell differently-themed stories from around the county, and we’re kicking things off with sports!

Over the last two months, we have been diving into our oral histories and historic images to unearth the thrills and spills of Cheshire’s sporting highlights over the last century. From amateur anglers to Guinness world record holders. A George Best cheating scandal to a police raid on a ‘gambling school’ that spanned all the way to Canada. This isn’t your typical punditry.

How does it work? Lace up your plimsolls and get your steps in by following the trail map below. And for one week in early July as part of the Festival of Ideas, bright blue posters and printed maps to be found at the four venues - the Town Hall, Storyhouse, Picturehouse and the Grosvenor Museum - help share the story. The ball’s in your court!
