The Gems Story...So Far

The halfway point in the search for 2000 unique Gems for 22 local areas is the perfect opportunity for us to share some of the contenders and ask for your support with the final selection.

Places are made of stories and, for over a year, local history groups and volunteers have been busy finding evidence of them in the archives and compiling longlists of potential Gems. Along the way we’ve made some fascinating discoveries.

Here are just some of the recommendations made for Ellesmere Port, Nantwich, and Winsford.

At the bottom of this page are links to three individual surveys for Ellesmere Port, Nantwich, and Winsford. The surveys contain a series of questions relating to images selected so far. These are either multiple choice (where you decide which images best represents a particular local story or theme) or images requiring local knowledge to help us tell our Gem stories.

Each survey only takes a few minutes to complete and we encourage you to provide as much information as you can – remember, these are your community Gems so we want to hear your stories and local knowledge.

If you organise or are a member of a community group in any of the 22 townships and would be interested in your group being involved and contributing to the selection process, we’d love to hear from you via the comments section below.

Surveys for the other townships will be published over the coming months on our Facebook page and via the Cheshire Archives newsletter.
